On Saturday, July 13, we held a team training, going over the stations we will man and seeing the tools that we will use to test the eyes of those coming to our clinic in La Paz.
It takes many people for a mission trip to happen, not the least of which are prayer partners. We are thankful for the prayers of Tom, Darcel, Vinny, Lisa, Jamari, Vincent, Melodee, Gary, Adele, Sandy, John, Alice, Sandy, Amy, Brenda and Karin today. Stan began our day with a devotion based on selected verses of Amos 7. ”Go prophesy.” Have we ever felt are called to do something we don’t feel qualified for? Amos was sent by God from tending sheep to prophesying to His people. Jesus came to rescue us by laying down His life. Stan asked us to: name a challenge I didn’t feel prepared for describe how I got thru it what did it teach me about Gods love What were we asked to do on this mission trip that we didn’t think we could do — that with God’s help we did? We closed with “Just give me Jesus” by Jeremy Camp. The faithful prayers of Tom, Darcel, Melodee, Gary, Adele, Marge, Sandy, Amy, Brenda and Karin have seen this mission team through many hours and days. Thank you sincerely! “I ❤️ LaPaz” sign with our team in back. ++++++ The results are in: our MOST Ministries Team 2413 in Honduras served 459 people through the eyeglass clinic this week. We feel blessed to be a blessing. ++++++ Keith led our morning devotion with a reading from Jesus Calling about walking by faith not by sight. Afterwards Christen affirmed Keith with words about how, as they both were “pointers” serving side-by-side in the testing station all week, he grew in his faith as he opened up with people serving humbly. Our song was “Walk by Faith not by Sight” by Keith and Krystin Getty. Today we head out for what MOST ministries calls a “Cultural Day.” Our host loaded us up into a 20-seat bus and drove us about 15 miles northwest to a bigger town where we could see a few of the sites. One was the Comayagua cathedral clo...
Thank you to our Saturday prayer partners for this trip: Tom, Sharron, Melodee, Gary, Adele, Dave, Sandy, Marge, Sandy, Amy, Brenda, Karen, Jim. Today we travel to La Paz, Honduras, from Detroit and Indianapolis. We met early (did I say early?) Saturday morning in the church parking lot. Ask Tom where he lost his phone before we even left DTW. He got to know the gate agents quite well and was relieved when Patrick stood to exit the plane in Miami. Breakfast in Miami Christen made Tom’s day with newspapers We got to experience Jesus in an odd way when we showed up at the hotel where our reservation had been made two months ago. There was now no room in the inn for our team of 12. Bit our hosts were helpful, gracious and efficient. Slowly but surely we made our way to this hotel. After getting settled in, our host led us to a local restaurant called Chef, where Rhonda (from West Lafayette, IN) shared her travel stories with the Michigan Eleven. Tacos anyone? Our meal was El Plato PaceƱo,...
